"A little light that happened" -- my first post in a while 'cause I've been working on a screenplay

A little light that happened

Before all that
before everything
even before the beginning

all that and everything
was without color
but then a little light

happened and then
color and all its shades
of complications ensued

and then came art
visual and aural
complex colors both

seen and heard
now we have movies
and video games

and virtual reality
that is aeons short
of virtue but now

we are in the middle
not halfway between
before time and after

time like the position
of the arms at six o’clock
on an old analog clock

but this day has been
one long slow slog
through darkness

and falling away
from what everything
means and from whence

all negation stomps out life
but breathing in
and breathing out

without thought is not
negation it is simply
the emptiness the lack

of context and this lack
of color is not negation
it is a little light happening

"no place" -- my first blog post in more than a year, drawn from an experience almost exactly four years ago

near Puerto de Ibañeta (Roncesvalles Pass)  in the Spanish Pyrenees no place  and the road  wound slowly  and steadily  up  a grueling grade  no variance  no up and down  just up  through curve and  straight up  and curve again and  straight up again  and again and again to the high snowbound  pass  invisible in fog and early December twilight  and along the shoulders the snow pushed there  by the steel blades of the snow plows  were made into mountains and valleys  of a smaller landscape of their own until there was no place to step off the cold wet black near-frozen pavement unyielding in its hard brutal asphalt  to pounding heavily weighted foot step  no place to step off except into deep snow  no place to rest the pain in feet and back and joint no place to sit quiet and still in the silence of frozen air  no place to take a piss        ...
