Sancho sits on his donkey

Sancho Panza and Don Quixote
Honoré Daumier

Sancho sits on his donkey
Dapple and Dapple has his
four feet on the ground under
the heavy weight of  Sancho’s
simple wisdom and from this
earthbound vision of man and
beast my imagination
flings me into high heavens
sometimes and then slams me back
down onto the hard ground high
and dry at the base of wheat
stalks watered by aqueducts
of modern concrete so how
can I hope for or expect
a proper and normal life?

"no place" -- my first blog post in more than a year, drawn from an experience almost exactly four years ago
