"days of reckoning" another product of Waffle House in Decatur on a very early Wednesday morning fueled by coffee and a pecan waffle—confrotational verse, writer versus reader—the reader always wins out - this is also heavy metapoetry, which I will attempt to explain on my Instagram live video @joescaper tomorrow at around 11:00 am - gonna start some podcasts of my poetry and other weird commentary - stay tuned

days of reckoning

this brings me to the final drowsy act
of this one of all my days of reckoning
for every day is that fateful day

yes even yesterday which is no longer
or tomorrow which is never yet to be
is each that reckoning day

for all of you and us and all those
who ever walked this whirling planet
or will walk before you and us

when all I can do is try to make a case
for my actually existing in this unreal
delusional parade of fantasy

by writing about it—that’s it?
that’s all you got?
yes

and even though the questions “that’s it?”
and “that’s all you got?” were asked of me
I wrote the questions—that is

not the speaker but “I” the authorial “I”
because the secondary speaker
asked the question of the speaker

and “I” wrote the question
so “I” control the reality
of this exchange—yet I control nothing

you do
you there—reading this
you control it all

especially when you make meaning
of all this bullshit
so I hand it all to you

"so much things to say" - just finished this - took me about ten minutes to write - I wanted to break away from the highly structured dense weight of my last poem and write something loose and free, and a bit ironic - the first two and a half lines come from the wonderful Bob Marley song, "So Much Things To Say"

"no place" -- my first blog post in more than a year, drawn from an experience almost exactly four years ago
