new place - just written within the hour - just posted

Tybee River
taken 3 June 2018

new
place
on a
quiet
street
with
trees
behind
the new
place
with
trees
growing
down to
a slow creek
a
slow
creek
that snakes
through
neighbor-
hoods
to a
larger
creek
that snakes
like a
water
moccasin
a cotton-
mouth
through
more
neighbor-
hoods
slowly
except
after
torrential rains
when the larger creek visits neighboring
basements unsecured against roaring water
then
after
calming down
after
a dry period
the larger
creek
snakes
like a
water
moccasin
a cotton-
mouth
through
more
less dense
neighbor-
hoods
through
more
dense
trees
like the
trees
behind the
new
place
on a
quiet
street
then the
larger
creek
snakes
like a
water
moccasin
a cotton-
mouth
to a
deep river
older
than
everything
and this
deep river
older
than
everything
flows
slowly
widening
through
the
coastal
plain
to
the
endless
abundant
ocean

"so much things to say" - just finished this - took me about ten minutes to write - I wanted to break away from the highly structured dense weight of my last poem and write something loose and free, and a bit ironic - the first two and a half lines come from the wonderful Bob Marley song, "So Much Things To Say"

"no place" -- my first blog post in more than a year, drawn from an experience almost exactly four years ago
