If my subject were the wind - (just completed at a quarter 'til one in the morning of 17 January, after I started it yesterday, Tuesday, morning but my Mac battery is slowly dying the death of a six-year old battery, and my Mac quit on me yesterday morning, so I plugged it in after midnight tonight and finished just now while sippin' on some rioja reserva...took me about fifteen minutes total to write this... honest)

If my subject were the wind

If my subject were the wind
I could only describe it by its effect

and if my subject were soil
I could only describe it by what it was once

in the past—so only about its remains
and though of wet death and decay it remains

fecund—and were my subject the tumultuous
connection and contact made between two

individuals conditioned to be solitary—
a tumult of connections twisted with passion and regrets—

then I would write about the single icy flake that late tonight
went right into my warm eye—

a slight tingling sting at first—
and then it’s a cold tear

"no place" -- my first blog post in more than a year, drawn from an experience almost exactly four years ago
